There's no secret, since the onset of Covid, that cats have become more disposable than ever! The veil of trust surrounding the pet world has worn thin and we’re often unsure who we are dealing with. I want you to trust that your re-home, adoption, or special needs journey is safe. A true rescue professional will guide you as you move forward. I will do all I can, to ensure that precious paws do not end up in harm’s way. Please take a cat nap and allow me to do the rest!
I am not a rescue group!
I am a Connecticut based cat service provider.
I charge a moderate fee for the services I provide.
We have all heard the saying that necessity is the mother of all inventions!
I saw a need within the community, and formed Cat Nap Village to fulfill those needs.
I offer 45 years experience, along with an array of services listed below.
I will be seeking fosters for cats in need of care.
All cats will be spayed, neutered and up to date on vaccines.

“He was near death when she found him. Out of the goodness of her heart, she resuscitated him twice, brought him to endless vet appointments (no matter the cost), removed flees and even treated him for pesky ringworm… all while ensuring his sweet spirit and personality stayed intact. She even brought him to get neutered for me while I was at work one day!”
Maria was amazing to work with as we tried to rehome our two cats. She is so dedicated to kittens/cats and finding the perfect home for them. She helped us place two beautiful cats (one who loved the outdoors) with a perfect family on a farm. Maria is a very kind hearted, ethical, and honest person. It was very easy working with her!
I have worked with Maria Pastuszak, she has been an independent rescue agent and assists various CT groups. I have been helped in so many ways. I have learned a lot about cat behaviors and the importance of getting cats spayed/neutered as soon as possible. They have helped me with surrendering kittens; my cat gave birth, too, and I did not trust anyone else but Maria to help find them forever, healthy, happy homes. I was also helped with getting 3 of my cats spayed and neutered due to my financial status at the time. It has been a great learning experience! Maria is exceptional at what she does for all fur babies.
Maria can manage special needs animals medically and behaviorally. During our friendship, she has taken in numerous sick, feral, or traumatized animals. She is conscientious about their care, including medical care and behavioral training. Many of the animals have required surgery, and she has cared for them in her home while they recover. Maria is trustworthy and able to provide pet-sitting services, even for those who are sick or recovering from surgery. This is her passion and area of expertise.
I truly don’t know where some of the cats I’ve been a part of rescuing would be today without Maria. Time and time again, she has stepped in when no one else would, taking in the most vulnerable souls: the sick, the feral, the pregnant, the ones everyone else had given up on. Her compassion knows no limits, and her expertise in handling even the most challenging cases is nothing short of extraordinary. She doesn’t just rescue, Maria transforms lives, both feline and human. She is a safe haven, a resource, and a lifeline. She does it all with grace, kindness, and deep knowledge. Maria is an expert and a hero. I am endlessly grateful for all she’s done for the cats in need, and for the example she sets every day in her unwavering dedication to animal welfare.
My husband and I adopted two cats from Maria, and I’m endlessly grateful for the love and care she gave them before they joined our family. I didn’t just take home two cats—I became part of a rescue story filled with compassion and hope. Sundae was found huddled against a wall during an active blizzard, barely clinging to life. She had to be intubated and came heartbreakingly close to not making it. Thanks to Maria and her incredible team, she survived. Sundae went through multiple surgeries and still lives with some respiratory issues, but now she has a warm, safe home—and I’m the lucky one who gets to give that to her. We also adopted a 10-week-old kitten who is full of life—spunky, playful, and just a joy to be around.
Maria’s work through Cat Nap Village is nothing short of life-saving. She sees the worth in every cat—no matter how small or how sick—and fights for their chance to thrive. I will always be grateful to her for what she’s done for our cats and for so many others. Maria has a gift—not just for saving cats, but for believing in them when no one else will, and that’s something the world can use more of.
